Automatic Transmissions: A General Overview

An automatic transmission is a type of gearbox that automatically changes gears within a vehicle, eliminating the need for manual gear shifting by the driver. This is achieved through a complex system of gears, clutches, and hydraulics.

Key Components:

Torque Converter: This component replaces the clutch in a manual transmission. It uses fluid to transfer power from the engine to the transmission, allowing for a smoother and more gradual engagement.
